Kirk Dewayne Franklin is an American gospel singer, choir director, record producer and rapper. He leads urban contemporary gospel and Christian R&B ensembles such as The Family, God’s Property, and One Nation Crew.
The Grammy-winning gospel artist has shared his rift with his mother which started when he was 32. In a recent interview, Franklin discussed a painful issue with his mother and her new husband.
He revealed that her new husband disrupted a crucial intervention for his sister, recently released from prison. Franklin had been the only one supporting his sister, who struggled with drug addiction and needed urgent help.
During the intervention, Franklin’s mother arrived with her new husband, causing confusion and shifting focus from his sister’s needs. Franklin felt the meeting’s purpose was lost due to the conflict introduced by his mother’s new partner.
