Sound Sultan, known for his significant contributions to Nigerian music, passed away in 2021 after a brave fight against angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
He was just 44 years old. His death was a profound loss to the Nigerian music community, and his funeral was held at the Marlboro Muslim cemetery in New Jersey on July 11, 2021, following Islamic traditions.
Sound Sultan’s brother, Baba Dee, has since spoken about his final days, offering insights into his care. In an interview with Teju Babyface, Baba Dee revealed that the family ensured he received top-notch medical treatment.
“It was always God. We didn’t have to ask anyone for help. Everything was taken care of. He had the best treatment available for his disease,” Baba Dee explained.
Charly Boy’s tribute highlights the enduring impact of Sound Sultan’s legacy and the deep friendships he fostered throughout his life.
Fans continue to celebrate his music and remember him fondly, honouring his contributions to the industry and the personal connections he cherished.
