Diddy’s Bail Denied Again Ahead of 2025 Trial

Written by on November 29, 2024

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will remain in custody at Brooklyn’s Metro Detention Center until his trial in 2025 after a third judge denied his bail request. The decision, made on November 27, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, came just days before Thanksgiving, continuing a series of setbacks for the music mogul.

Judge Subramanian expressed concerns over Diddy’s potential to obstruct the case. He called Diddy a “serious risk” to witnesses and evidence. The judge cited prohibited communications found in Diddy’s cell during a recent search. The court previously discussed this issue in a bail hearing.

Prosecutors raised concerns about Diddy’s efforts to influence public opinion. They cited his viral FaceTime call with his children on his 55th birthday. Despite his lawyers’ arguments, the judge sided with the prosecution. Diddy’s lawyers claimed he posed no flight risk or danger with a $50 million bail package.

Prosecutors allege that Diddy tried to contact witnesses and influence public opinion from jail. They also claim that he encouraged his family to strategize and run an online campaign to sway the potential jury.

“There is compelling evidence of Combs’s propensity for violence,” Judge Subramanian wrote in his five-page decision. He further stated that no condition or combination of conditions could assure the safety of the community.

This is the third consecutive bail denial for Diddy, who police arrested in September 2024 on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. His trial is scheduled to start on May 5, 2025. As of now, Diddy’s legal team has not publicly commented on the latest ruling.
