Hilda Baci, a former Guinness World Record holder, has broken her silence after losing her title to another contestant. We previously reported her record for the longest time spent cooking while standing was surpassed by Alan Fisher from Ireland, who completed an astounding 119-hour and 57-minute cooking marathon in Japan.

In response to this news, Hilda promptly updated her social media profile. Taking to Twitter, she expressed her perspective, highlighting that while she may have lost the official title, she remains a record holder in spirit and history.

She noted how the first record holder, Chef Lata respectfully acknowledged her as the winner and made some adjustments in her bio, hence, why she is following suit.

Hilda further noted how achieving such a record is no small feat and she knows firsthand what it feels like, the more reason why she admires Chef Alan.

“Just as Chef Lata respectfully acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio and later fine-tuning the wording I’ve adjusted mine too. Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights. Sportsmanship is about recognizing progress, whether the accolade is in my bio or not. I remain a record holder in spirit and history. Let’s celebrate achievement and the spirit of competition”.

In June, Hilda Effiong Bassey, known as Hilda Baci, set a remarkable record, cooking for 100 consecutive hours.
The 26-year-old Nigerian chef initiated this feat on May 11, continuing until May 15, preparing more than 100 pots of food during this four-day culinary marathon at Amore Gardens, Lekki.

Hilda’s achievement surpassed that of Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who cooked for an uninterrupted 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.

The Guinness World Records initially recognized Hilda Baci as the record holder, though not without a fierce response from Nigerians.
However, due to concerns regarding her resting hours, Hilda’s record time was adjusted to 93 hours and 11 minutes, slightly less than her original 100 hours.
