Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has successfully undergone five surgeries. He recently provided an update on his health battle via an Instagram post, expressing his gratitude to the public.
In the Instagram statement, Mr. Ibu revealed that he remains in the ICU, awaiting stabilization before traveling abroad for advanced treatment. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the general public for their generous donations and emphasized that he continues to rely on their prayers and unwavering support.

So far Daddy has gone through 5 successful surgeries, and he is still recovering in the ICU. Daddy is immensely grateful and we are thankful to the general public during this phase of our lives. We appreciate all the donations made to this account, and as soon as Daddy is better he will personally acknowledge all donations respectively!
We are still counting on all your prayers and unwavering support as we pray he gets stabilized quickly to enable us to fly him abroad for further advanced treatment… The John Okafor family is grateful to all Nigerians”.

Last week, we reported that Mr. Ibu, currently hospitalized, urgently appealed to the public for assistance in his battle against an ailment that might necessitate amputation. Notably, Nigerian music sensations Davido and P-Square, alongside the well-known personality Tunde Ednut, promptly pledged to cover the iconic actor’s medical expenses.
Furthermore, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, through his foundation, graciously settled his outstanding medical bills. This generous act of kindness demonstrated a deep concern for Mr. Ibu’s well-being.
Kate Henshaw, acting on behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, fervently refuted claims that they had neglected Mr. Ibu. She emphasized that they had been diligently providing essential support to him long before his health condition became public knowledge.
However, Mr. Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris, aired her grievances in a viral video and publicly criticized the AGN for their perceived lack of support for her husband. She dismissed the Guild’s statements as mere attempts to save face, asserting that they were entirely untrue.
In response, Kate Henshaw directly addressed Stella Maris, refuting her accusations and claiming that the Guild had been actively assisting the actor since 2021. She acknowledged that Stella Maris is understandably distressed, but emphasized that the notion that the Guild hasn’t been supportive is unfounded.
