Popular Nigerian food critic, consultant, and writer, Opeyemi Famakin, recently expressed concern over the death threats he has been receiving for reviewing the burger of music executive, Don Jazzy.
As many are aware, Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavins Records, has ventured into the food and drink business, offering a range of items such as burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, and milkshakes.
Opeyemi had previously reviewed Don Jazzy’s burger positively when it was newly launched, but he recently conducted another review and pointed out some issues and disappointments, including the fact that he did not receive a side of fries despite paying N12,000 for the burger.
In response to Opeyemi’s review, Don Jazzy’s fans allegedly sent him death threats, which has left him frightened and concerned for his safety. Opeyemi took to Instagram to share his experience, stating that he has never received death threats before and that he feels scared for his life.
To make matters worse, the recent death of rapper ALA has heightened Opeyemi’s paranoia. He expressed his worries, saying:
“The Number of Death Threats I’ve gotten today from Don Jazzy Fans For the first time in my life, As a food critic, I am Legit scared for my life If anything happens to me, it was nice serving y’all Remember, If I said it, then I meant it”

He also added,
“Not gonna lie, I do not feel safe with the DMS I’ve been getting. Imagine being shot because of a burger review.”
“Apparently my skin is not as thick as I thought it was. Not when my life is involved. After what happened to Aka. e reach to be paranoid.”
On a more positive note, Don Jazzy recently won the admiration of many as he generously gave out over 2 million naira to his fans on Twitter within 24 hours. He responded to fans’ requests for assistance and sent a million naira to a homeless man and 800 thousand naira to another person who needed help with school fees. The total amount he gave out was reported to be over two million nairas, and he received praise for his generosity.
