2Baba has turned his 51st birthday into another music moment with the release of “Mental,” a new single featuring Fave. The veteran singer released the track on Friday, September 18, giving music listeners another fresh record to add to the weekend rotation.
Meanwhile, the release formed part of a bigger birthday celebration that brought together music, family, friends and industry figures in Lagos.
First, “Mental” places 2Baba alongside Fave, one of the younger voices shaping contemporary Nigerian music. As a result, the collaboration creates a meeting point between 2Baba’s established sound and Fave’s modern approach to Afrobeats and Nigerian pop.
According to 2Baba’s manager and partner, Mallam Yankee, the singer released the song as part of his birthday celebration. The timing also gave the new record an additional spotlight as fans marked another milestone in the veteran artist’s career.
Furthermore, 2Baba continued the celebration on Saturday, September 19, with a private dinner, an album listening party and the launch of 2Baba Jollof in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The listening party also provided guests with an opportunity to hear material connected to his forthcoming music project.
2Baba has remained a major figure in Nigerian popular music for decades. From his years with Plantashun Boiz to his successful solo career, he has maintained a strong presence across the country’s evolving music landscape.
Over time, he has also worked with artists from different generations. Therefore, his decision to feature Fave on “Mental” continues that pattern of connecting an established Nigerian music identity with a younger generation of performers.
The release has given music listeners another 2Baba record to discuss as he celebrates his 51st birthday. However, specific fan reactions should only appear in the story when MAX FM can verify the original comments from identifiable social media accounts or other credible sources.
More importantly, “Mental” shows how an established Nigerian artist can use a personal milestone to introduce another chapter of his music career.
The collaboration also reflects the continuing relationship between different generations of Nigerian musicians. While 2Baba brings decades of experience to the record, Fave adds a contemporary voice that connects the collaboration to today’s music audience.
Consequently, the song gives listeners more than a birthday soundtrack. It also places 2Baba back into the current music conversation with a new-generation collaboration.
2Baba and Fave connect two generations of Nigerian music on the new single “Mental.”
For now, attention remains on “Mental” and the music connected to 2Baba’s forthcoming project. His birthday listening party in Lagos has already offered guests an early preview of some of the material.
As the conversation develops, MAX 102.3 FM will continue to track confirmed updates around the project, new releases and the veteran singer’s next moves.
