Portable Fails To Meet Bail Conditions, Sleeps In Police Cell

Nigerian music sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, found himself in a predicament as he spent a night behind bars due to his failure to fulfil the conditions for his release from police custody.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Portable was detained over a financial dispute involving a hefty sum of N14 million owed to a car dealership in Lagos State. This debt stems from his purchase of a luxurious G-Wagon vehicle.

Sources reveal that Portable initially paid N13 million towards the N27 million price tag of the vehicle. However, he contested the quality of the G-Wagon and refused to settle the remaining N14 million balance.

Despite numerous attempts by the car dealership to resolve the matter amicably, Portable remained adamant, prompting the involvement of law enforcement authorities.

Confirming the development, a reliable source disclosed that Portable remained in police custody as of Wednesday, having failed to meet the conditions set for his release following his arrest on Tuesday.

The incident has stirred considerable attention within the Nigerian music industry, with fans and observers eagerly awaiting further updates on the situation surrounding the popular artist.

He said: “He is still in police custody as we speak. When he paid N13m for the G-Wagon that cost N27m and refused to pay the balance, the car dealer asked him to return the vehicle when his excuse was that it was bad but he also refused.”

Also speaking, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Portable passed the night in a police cell after he was arrested

He said, “He has presented no reliable surety yet so he (Portable) is still with us.”
