THE EFCC TESTIFIES AGAINST NAIRA MARLEY IN ALLEGED CYBER FRAUD TRIAL

The trial of Nigerian artiste, Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley, resumed yesterday at the Federal High Court where he faces eleven charges bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit cards and fraud.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Naira Marley’s offences were committed on different dates between November 26, 2018, and December 11, 2018, as well as May 10, 2019.
The anti-graft agency alleged that the Nigerian artiste and his accomplices conspired to use different ATM cards to defraud their victims.
Testifying against Naira Marley in court, a prosecution witness, Anosike Augustine, a mobile forensic expert with the EFCC revealed how about two thousand four hundred and ten short messages were analyzed from the iPhone of the defendant while also stating that different credit card numbers were extracted from the iPhone.
According to a witness, nine hundred and seventy-seven Short Message Service (SMS) and one thousand four hundred and thirty-three chat messages, were discovered in the witness’ iPhone while adding that there were also seven pending status update messages.
The witness also read out some credit card numbers and messages sent from the iPhone on different dates and times, as well as OTP codes sent.
The case was however adjourned till today by Justice Nicholas Oweibo for the prosecutor to break down all his analysis on the messages which he had put together in a Compact Disc.
If you would recall, Naira Marley’s trial started in 2019 over his alleged involvement in Internet fraud, as he was arrested alongside fellow artiste Zlatan and others.
