Seun Kuti declares that fatherhood is his most significant life achievement

Seun Kuti, both a musician and an activist, recently discussed fatherhood and described it as the most important thing he has done.

He spoke in an interview about raising his daughter and mentioned that he isn’t close to one of his daughters because of problems with her mother.

He said, “Being a father, being with my daughter, and raising her are the best things I’ve done in my life. I have two kids, but I’m not close to my other daughter.”

The interviewer asked him, “How can you have two daughters but be close to only one? Were you raising children on your own before you got married?

“No, it’s complicated,” he replied. “No family is perfect. I’m not close to my other daughter’s mother. I wasn’t married when I had my other daughter. Interestingly, I only had sex before my first daughter was born.”

Seun Kuti married Yetunde Kuti, his former dance partner. They discussed their love story on TVC, recounting how they had known each other for a long time but didn’t talk much because he was older.

Their paths crossed again through Seun’s cousin, who was also a dancer. Living together for a while, they had a child before officially marrying in 2020.
