Nigerian Singer Oxlade Opens Up About Love and Heartbreak

Written by on September 19, 2024

Nigerian singer Oxlade recently shared his thoughts on love and heartbreak, revealing why he believes love is often overrated.

During an appearance on ‘The 90’s Baby Show’, he reflected on his past relationship and the impact it had on his outlook.

When asked about his breakup, Oxlade hesitated to name his ex, saying only, “A thing.” He explained, “I feel like you don’t do evil for evil; that would give her bad publicity. I can’t expose her, but trust me, my community will. The internet can be crazy.”

As the conversation progressed, Oxlade elaborated on why he feels love is overrated. He pointed out that societal pressures played a significant role in the downfall of his relationship.

Recalling a specific moment, he mentioned, “I remember being in her hostel and overhearing her friends question her choices: ‘Girl, what are you doing with Oxlade?’”

That experience, he said, was painful and shifted his perspective on love. “When I walked in, their demeanour changed, and that broke me. From that point, I noticed a shift in our relationship, especially when I saw her with someone else after she claimed she wasn’t seeing anyone.”

Oxlade concluded, “During that time in my life, I realized that while love can be sweet, it isn’t something you can find everywhere. True love requires luck and a bit of divine timing.”
