Asake’s O2 Arena Concert Marks BRIT Silver Plaque Achievement

Written by on September 24, 2024

Asake proudly accepted a silver plaque for his sophomore album during a sold-out concert at the O2 Arena. This event followed the release of his third album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ as he kicked off a world tour performing at various renowned venues.

At the concert, Asake captivated the audience with his popular tracks, and he had notable guests in attendance, including Grammy winner Wizkid and actor Idris Elba.

Idris presented Asake with a plaque celebrating the sold-out show and a BRIT silver plaque for his album ‘Work of Art.’

This accolade marks ‘Work of Art’ as Asake’s second album to achieve BRIT silver certification, following his debut album, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes.’

Asake has made remarkable strides in the UK music scene, with all three of his albums topping the UK Apple Music Album Chart, a unique achievement for a Nigerian artist.

His successful concert at the O2 Arena reflects his growing popularity, placing him alongside fellow Afrobeats stars Davido and Wizkid, both of whom have also sold out the venue multiple times.

The O2 Arena has been a significant stage for Afrobeats, with Davido being the first Nigerian solo act to headline there in 2018, and Wizkid making history with three consecutive nights in 2021.
