Nigerian music star Timaya recently expressed his concerns about the skyrocketing costs of music promotion in an interview.

He revealed that creating a music video now can cost up to 100 million naira, compared to just 1.5 million naira in the past.

Timaya highlighted how inflation is affecting the music industry, making marketing more expensive than ever. He said, “We used to shoot music videos for 1.5 million. Now, it’s 100 million, 50 million, 60 million.”

In addition to video production, artists also spend a lot on marketing, which has led to higher booking fees. Timaya noted, “That’s why young artists might quote 50 million or 30 million; they need to cover their costs.”

His comments resonate with many in the industry, as influencers, videographers, and other professionals are also raising their fees due to these rising expenses.

Timaya recently released a new album called *Gladiator*, adding to his impressive career as one of Nigeria’s leading artists.
