Former manager of the now-defunct music group P-Square, jude Okoye is finally released from EFCC detention after spending more than two months in custody. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arrested and arraigned him alongside his company, Northside Music Limited, on seven counts related to money laundering.
P-Square Rift: Jude Okoye Released From EFCC Detention
According to reports, the charges involve allegations of fund diversion and the illegal registration of a company in his wife’s name.
Jude’s younger brother and P-Square member, Paul Okoye (also known as Rudeboy), shared the news of the release on Wednesday. He posted several videos on Instagram showing friends and family welcoming Jude home.
“Jude is finally out after 2 months +,” Paul wrote. “All their efforts to frustrate his bail have collapsed. Welcome home brother #judeengees. And happy birthday. Welcome back blood.”
The controversy goes deeper, as it now involves Jude’s own family. Last week, Peter Okoye (known as Mr P) took the stand at the Federal High Court in Lagos. He accused Jude of secretly creating a new company under his wife’s name and using it to divert royalties that belonged to P-Square.
This shocking testimony has intensified the already strained relationship between the Okoye brothers.
Although Jude is now free, the legal case is far from over. The court has adjourned the case to June 4 for cross-examination. With Peter testifying against Jude, the next hearing is expected to be even more dramatic.
