“Without Fireboy, there would be no Ayo Maff.
In a recent interview on Trending, Ayo Maff didn’t hold back on how much the collaboration meant to him.
“Without Fireboy, there would be no Ayo Maff. He gave me exactly what I needed,” the singer said. “So thank God and thank you to Fireboy.”
Released in 2024, Dealer (Remix) quickly became a fan favorite. It topped the charts, and Spotify Nigeria named it the biggest song of the year. The track’s huge success turned Ayo Maff from a rising street voice into a national star.
Now seen as one of Nigerian street music’s most promising voices, Ayo Maff delivers raw authenticity. His music highlights real-life struggles like police brutality, poverty, and the daily hustle.
The collaboration itself came as a surprise.
According to Ayo Maff, he didn’t expect Fireboy to jump on the remix. However, when he did, everything changed.
As a result, the hit single earned Ayo Maff millions of streams. Moreover, it got him a nomination for the coveted Headies Next Rated award.
He earned the chance to perform at London’s O2 Arena, opening for Grammy-nominated superstar Asake.
Describing the O2 performance, Ayo Maff said it was a dream come true — literally.
“I saw it in my mind before it happened,” he shared.
With momentum on his side, the street-pop star is now prepping the release of his debut album titled ‘The Prince of the Street,’ and fans are buzzing with anticipation.
