Beyoncé Opens Up About the Prison of Fame and Why She Disappears

Written by on September 11, 2024

Beyoncé recently opened up about the challenges of fame in an interview with GQ Magazine’s October issue. She said that the intense scrutiny and pressure of being in the spotlight can sometimes feel like a prison, which is why she steps away from the public eye.

Known for her high standards, Beyoncé discussed how the expectations from her past successes can be overwhelming.

When asked if her reputation feels like a burden, she replied, “I create at my own pace and aim to produce work that touches others.”

My goal is to inspire people to explore their creativity, strength, and resilience. I focus on storytelling, growth, and quality, not on achieving perfection.”

She highlighted that her current projects, including the music for *Cowboy Carter* and other new endeavours, are freeing rather than suffocating. Beyoncé made it clear that the prison-like feeling comes from fame itself, not her work.

Beyoncé explained, “Working on new music and exciting projects feels liberating, not burdensome. Fame, on the other hand, can sometimes feel like a prison.

That’s why you might not see me on red carpets or in the public eye all the time. I take those breaks to work on what truly inspires and liberates me.”
