Big wigs of the American music industry were in attendance at the forty-ninth American Music Awards which held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The event which was hosted by American rapper Cardi B saw major wins for various artistes.

Some of the big winners on the night includes the Asian K-pop music group, BTS winning the biggest category of the night, âThe Artist of the Yearâ, âFavorite Pop Duo or Groupâ, and âFavorite Pop Songâ for their smash hit, âButterâ.

Doja Cat won three American Music Awards for âFavorite Female R&B Artistâ, âFavorite R&B Albumâ and âCollaboration of the Yearâ, while Megan Thee Stallion won awards for âFavorite Female Hip Hop Artistâ, âFavorite Hip Hop Albumâ and âFavorite Trending Songâ.


Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo had the most nominations at the event with seven nods but went home with one win in the coveted âNew Artist of the Yearâ category.

The âFavorite Music Videoâ category was won by Lil Nas X âMONTERO (Call Me by Your Name), while Ed Sheeran took home the âFavorite Male Pop Artisteâ category and Taylor Swift took home the âFavorite Female Pop Artisteâ category amongst many other winners.

The award ceremony also featured a star-studded line-up of performances by Olivia Rodrigo, BTS with Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic and more.
