E-Money Urges Nigerians to Stop Spraying Naira at Parties

Popular businessman and entertainer Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E-Money, is calling on Nigerians to respect the Naira and follow the law during celebrations.

In a recent Instagram post, E-Money reminded the public that spraying money at parties is illegal. He referred to a directive from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which clearly states that abusing the Naira in any form is a punishable offense.

“Attention! The EFCC reminds us that spraying Naira (or any currency) at parties or events is against the law! Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!” he wrote.

E-Money encouraged celebrants to give cash gifts respectfully. Instead of spraying money, he suggested placing it in a basket, bowl, or box in front of the celebrant.

“If you must give money at a party, make sure you put it in a basket, bowl, or box in front of the person at the party. Don’t drop any currency on the floor. The EFCC advises against this. Ignorance is not going to be an excuse. Let us be aware and abide by the rules since it’s the law of the land,” he added.

This message follows E-Money’s recent run-in with the EFCC. The agency reportedly arrested him for spraying both Naira and dollars at a public event. His experience has since turned into a cautionary tale, especially for those unaware of the law.

The EFCC has warned that currency abuse will no longer be overlooked. Anyone found guilty may face serious legal consequences.
