EFCC to Release VeryDarkMan After Bail Conditions Are Met
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that Martins Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be released once he meets his bail conditions.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale told BBC News Pidgin on Monday that the social media activist was arrested in response to several petitions. These complaints accuse him of various forms of misconduct.
“We arrested him so he could respond to the allegations made by some petitioners,” Oyewale said. “He will be released if he meets his bail conditions. We will also take the case to court as soon as possible.”
VDM is known for his bold social commentary online. EFCC operatives arrested him in Abuja, prompting widespread backlash—especially on social media. Many Nigerians accuse the EFCC of silencing critical voices.
In response, a group of young Nigerians took to the streets of Abuja on Monday. They protested and demanded his immediate release.
