French Court to Deliver Verdict in Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbery Trial

A French court will deliver its verdict today in the headline-making Kim Kardashian Paris robbery trial, nearly nine years after masked thieves tied her up and stole nearly $10 million worth of jewelry.

Authorities charged ten suspects—nine men and one woman—for organizing the bold 2016 heist. The group allegedly stormed the luxury Paris apartment where Kardashian stayed during Fashion Week, held her at gunpoint, gagged her, and fled with valuables, including a $4 million diamond ring from then-husband Kanye West.

Earlier this month, Kardashian took the stand. Wearing a jeweled necklace, she told the court, “I thought I was going to die,”

Earlier this month, Kardashian took the stand. Wearing a jeweled necklace, she told the court, “I thought I was going to die,” while recalling the traumatic night masked intruders broke in and tied her up.

Aomar Ait Khedache, also known as “Old Omar,” admitted to tying her up but claimed he didn’t lead the robbery. Prosecutors requested a 10-year sentence for him and three others. His lawyers argued that prison would amount to a life sentence for the 69-year-old, who is nearly deaf. After hearing his letter of apology, Kardashian responded in court, “I forgive you, but the trauma and change to my life remain.”

Another suspect, Yunice Abbas, who wrote “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian”, expressed regret and called the heist “one job too many.” Now battling Parkinson’s, Abbas said he wishes he had made better choices.

The French media dubbed the aging suspects the “Grandpa Robbers,” thanks to their old-school criminal nicknames like “Blue Eyes” and “Old Omar.”

Crowds and reporters packed the Paris court on Ile de la Cité as the public wait to hear the final judgment in France’s biggest private robbery case.
