In a new vlog session shared on Wednesday, 17 July, Toke Makinwa spoke up against the idea of women expected to do all they can to please their prospective spouse’s mother before marriage.
According to the media personality, even though most women do things they don’t do in their own houses to please their prospective mother-in-laws, there is no guarantee their partner will be marrying them.
Toke went on to narrate how she underwent same experience with an ex-boyfriend’s mother, she also recounted being called ‘Akebaje’ simply because she doesn’t wash plates when she comes around. According to her, she felt it was pet name but found out it was an insult after she asked an aunt.
Maintaining that the day a man breaks up with his fiancee is the day his mother and family members stops seeing her, Toke Makinwa added that the culture of men manipulating their lovers into believing they can only take them serious when their mother likes them, turns women into slaves.
