“If I Wasn’t Doing Music, I’d Be a Journalist!” – Davido
Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed the unexpected career path he would have chosen if music hadn’t worked out — journalism!

“I like promo, I like conversations,” Davido said. “A lot of people don’t know I studied Marketing along with Business Management. I enjoy marketing myself.
In a fun and candid chat on Atlanta’s 96.1 The Beat, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer shared, that his love for talking, information, and media would have made him a natural fit for journalism if he hadn’t blown up in music.
“I like promo, I like conversations,” Davido said. “A lot of people don’t know I studied Marketing along with Business Management. I enjoy marketing myself. “If I had a Podcast, I’d talk for like three or four days straight!”
Davido, known for being one of the most media-friendly artists in the Afrobeats scene, explained why he embraces press and interviews more than many of his peers.
“Some artists don’t like to talk, but I love conversations. “I’m always researching, even at home. “I like to know things,” he added.
The “Unavailable” hitmaker also touched on his strong work ethic, emphasizing that his popularity isn’t by chance. “People ask why I have the most followers — it’s because I’m working,” he said. “Even someone like Beyoncé works super hard despite all the money she’s got.”
With a mix of charm, hustle and media-savvy energy, Davido continues to stand out in the global Afrobeats scene — and if he ever starts that Podcast, fans will surely tune in!
