Nigerian singer Joeboy suffered a loss of N3 million after Arsenal defeated Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Ahead of the match, Joeboy, known for his hit song “Controller,” posted a betting slip on social media, jokingly captioning it, “Cashing out on Arsenal tears tonight!” The singer had placed a bet with the hope that Real Madrid would win, standing to earn N10,345,000 if they triumphed at the Emirates.
However, Arsenal had other plans. Declan Rice scored two stunning free-kicks to put the Gunners in the lead, and Mikel Merino added a third to seal a dominant 3-0 victory.
After the final whistle, Joeboy, clearly stunned by the result, could only tweet “Goodnight.”
Arsenal now head to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg next Wednesday, aiming to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Before that, Mikel Arteta’s team will face Brentford in the Premier League.
