Manchester City defender John Stones has reportedly emerged as the main transfer target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta who wants him at the Emirates stadium.

John Stones is hoping to make England final squad for Euro 2020 and wants first-team football so as to boost his chances of making the team.

With two years left on his current contract at Manchester City, John Stones’ season has been plagued with injury and loss of form and there has been no sign of new contract offer for him at the Etihad.

According to the report on UK Sun, John Stones and Mikel Arteta are being represented by the same agency, and that could lure him to Arsenal.

Stones was in England’s first squad that played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and he was also a key member of the Manchester City squads that won the EPL title back to back.

But now, it appears that Pep Guardiola has lost interest in the 25-year-old star.

“He was in London to see his agent last week and is due back again this week.

He knows if he is to resurrect his England career he has to get more time on the pitch. “Arteta is in need of defenders so it could be perfect for both of them,” a source explained according to UK Sun.

Manchester City is currently occupying the second position on the Premier League standings, while Arsenal occupies 10th after 22 games.

Report has it that Mikel Arteta who is Arsenal’s new manager stated that he is ready to build his team around German football star Mesut Ozil at the Emirates stadium.

Before Mikel Arteta retired from active football, he played together with Mesut Ozil under Arsene Wenger and they were very close then.
