According to a news source, while he was being hospitalized, his wife, Katherine stayed by his bedside as well as some of his children and grandchildren.

According to the news source,

“Joe had been battling health problems for sometime now. He was hospitalized back in 2016 after coming down with a high fever. But, he bounced back not long after and was seen partying in Vegas.
His health was also fragile after a stroke and three heart attacks back n 2015. Doctors implanted a pacemaker,”

The death was confirmed by Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson’s former spokesperson, who said she spoke to Randy Jackson, Joseph Jackson’s son.

Joseph Walter Jackson was born July 26, 1928, in Fountain Hill, Arkansas. He was 12 when his parents separated, and he followed his father, a schoolteacher, to Oakland, California. After completing high school, he moved to East Chicago, Indiana, where his mother had settled. He was an amateur boxer for a short time and had a brief teenage marriage that was annulled.

In 1949, he married Katherine Scruse, whose singing around the house was cited as a crucial influence by her children. Jackson worked as a crane operator at a steel mill in Gary.

Joseph Walter Jackson was also an American talent manager and patriarch of the Jackson family of entertainers which included the pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson.

He launched the careers of the Jackson 5, his son Michael Jackson and daughter Janet Jackson, however, his child-rearing techniques were frequently slammed for being abusive. His children documented how Joe would beat and abuse them to work harder, subject them to long and intense rehearsals and even brutalizing them with a strap. He was also accused of exploitation.

Joe claimed in a tell-all interview with Oprah that while his methods could be cruel, he wasn’t sorry because they made his kids successful and kept them on the straight and narrow.

Joe had 10 kids with Katherine and they were married for more than 60 years. The two did not live together and they had a strained relationship for the last years of his life but they frequently interacted.
