Mikel Obi Holds Back Tears During Interview After Nigeria’s Defeat

Written by on June 27, 2018

The Super Eagles lost 1-2 to La Albiceleste of Argentina in their last Group D match at St. Petersburg on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 and only needed a draw to qualify to the round of 16 at the World Cup in Russia.

Marcos Rojo scored a goal in the 86th minute against Nigeria which saved Argentina’s World Cup hopes of progressing from Group D alongside Croatia to set up a last-16 match against France.

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi who held back his tears during an interview after the match, said they did all they could, while Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, stated that the players are not so experienced but did their utmost best.
