Paul Okoye Warns Nigerian Youths About Dangers of Clout-Chasing on Social Media

Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has warned Nigerian youths to stop using social media recklessly in pursuit of clout and trends.

“Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or trend… Your eye go clear,”

“Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or trend… Your eye go clear,”

The “Reason With Me” singer took to his Instagram Stories to express concern, stating that many young people are treating social media as a game without realizing its long-term consequences.

“Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or trend… Your eye go clear,” Rudeboy wrote, clearly addressing the dangers of online misbehavior.

Rudeboy joins a growing list of Nigerian entertainers urging fans to rethink how they use social platforms. He believes many people use social media for attention without understanding how it can backfire or damage their reputation.

In Nigeria, social media misuse continues to spark debates, especially with rising cases of cyberbullying, fake news, defamation, and online harassment.

Despite these concerns, Nigeria still lacks an official regulatory body for social media. Lawmakers introduced a bill to regulate online platforms, but public outcry stalled its progress. Many Nigerians criticized the bill, claiming it could threaten freedom of speech.

Paul Okoye believes that being online should not come at the cost of integrity or mental well-being. He encourages fans to use their platforms responsibly and avoid falling into the trap of viral fame and toxic “cruise culture.”
