Afro-fusion artist Ugoccie took center stage with her words during an exclusive interview with Max FM, where she passionately shared the story behind her name, her musical journey, and her future plans.
She described her stage name “Ugoccie” as more than a brand calling it a melodic signature rooted in her Igbo heritage. “Ugoccie is a trademark of where I come from. It’s my identity,” she said, confidently linking her sound to her cultural background.
Ugoccie catapulted into the spotlight after she released a cover of One Ticket by
and Davido. The cover went viral on social media and showcased her unique phrasing, emotional delivery, and dynamic vocal control. That viral moment helped her connect with audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
Although many listeners interpret Achalugo as a female empowerment anthem, Ugoccie corrected that assumption. “Achalugo is for everyone who loves good music,” she emphasized. “It’s not limited by gender.”
She introduced her artistry through her debut EP Pieces of Me, which served as a strong introductory track to her sound. On that project, she displayed her lyrical depth, harmonic layering, and melodic versatility. In Voice of the East, she further explored her cultural roots and identity, offering listeners a glimpse into her world.
Now, Ugoccie is fine-tuning her next major release a new album set to drop next year. While she kept most details under wraps, she confirmed that the upcoming project will expand her sound and solidify her place as a rising star from the East.
With a blend of talent, authenticity, and vision, Ugoccie continues to shape her musical path with one powerful note at a time.
