WIZKID WINS MOBO AWARDS

Nigerian superstar Wizkid continues on his winning streak as he just bagged ‘The Best African Act’ and ‘The Best International Act’ at the just concluded annual British music award, Music of Black Origin (MOBO).

Wizkid came out tops in the Best African Act category, which had fellow Nigerians such as Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Ckay, Tems, and even Ayra Starr. Others in that category included King Promise and NSG.

While in the Best International Act category, Wizkid beat the likes of Doja Cat, Drake, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, Polo, Rema, Skillibeng, and Young Stoner Life which consists of Young Thug & Gunna.

This new feat winning two MOBO Awards in one night now makes Wizkid the most awarded African in the competition’s history, taking his total number of wins to five.

The award ceremony which is a showcase of the best black music in the UK, Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond was hosted by Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock and comedian, Munya Chawawa.

U.K rapper Dave won album of the year after picking up the most MOBO nominations for his critically-acclaimed second album, We’re All Alone in This Together, while Little Simz won her first award as Best Female Act, and Ghetts won the Best Male Act category, at the event that took place yesterday night.
