Nigerian singer Jodie has finally opened up about the challenges that kept her hit song “Kuchi Kuchi” from earning her the recognition and financial reward she deserved. She shared her story during a heartfelt interview, explaining how a management contract and personal circumstances affected her career and her life.

Jodie opens up about the “Kuchi Kuchi” contract struggle and celebrates her return with the new single “Merry Merry.
When she released “Kuchi Kuchi,” Jodie was fully independent and had not signed with any record label. She handled everything herself, from production to promotion. However, things shifted when she later signed a management contract that mixed emotions with business decisions. The contract connected her to husband record label Don’s Entertainment. a label owned by her then-partner and father of her child. As a result, the song ended up under the label, and he benefited financially from her work.
Jodie also revealed the personal toll she faced. Her ex-husband left just two months after the birth of their special needs child, leaving her to navigate motherhood and career challenges alone. During this period, her lawyer advised that the only way to reclaim ownership of “Kuchi Kuchi” was to remake it under her own brand.
Despite these obstacles, Jodie’s outlook remains hopeful. She has returned to the music scene with a new single, “Merry Merry,” which she describes as a fresh start. Fans can now look forward to her music once again, as she reclaims her voice, her story, and her space in the industry.
