Folapondis Speaks Out: “I Wish Raw Talent Could Shine Without Big Money!”
Afrobeats rising star Folapondis is getting candid about fame, frustration, and the music industry’s harsh realities.
Afrobeats rising star Folapondis is getting candid about fame, frustration, and the music industry’s harsh realities.
In an exclusive interview on Maxhits, the fast-rising Nigerian artist Folapondis opened up about how fame has changed his life. “I used to walk to the store and do things for myself. Now, I can’t even do that anymore,” he shared. “I love the growth, but it comes with serious challenges.”
Folapondis went on to highlight what he believes is the biggest challenge facing upcoming artists in today’s Afrobeats music scene. “If I had one wish, it would be that talent alone could make you blow,” he said. “I wish you didn’t need sponsors or millions to be seen.”
He emphasized how money and visibility often matter more than pure skill. “There are so many talented Nigerian musicians out there who don’t get a shot because no one is backing them. It’s sad,” he added. “You have to force yourself into the spotlight before people show love.”
The “Afrobeats breakout artist” believes that the system needs to change. “Once you’re talented, that should be enough. People should automatically recognize real talent,” he said.
Folapondis’ raw honesty highlights what many emerging Nigerian artists are dealing with: grinding through a system that favors marketing over music.
As Afrobeats continues to dominate global charts, stars like Folapondis are pushing for a future where authentic talent shines without needing massive budgets or industry plugs.
