Seyitan Babatayo, D’banj’s rape accuser, has released an official statement detailing the events since she came forward with the accusation.

This comes after D’banj took to Instagram to request that people should stop social media trial, declaring he is innocent until proven guilty.

Seyitan who has now made a criminal complaint to the police revealed that she was threatened by the singer and his team following her decision to come out with her story.

Seyitan confirmed she was indeed arrested by some police officers who gained access to her apartment by pretending to be delivery men. She stated that she was arrested and made to stay in the cell with criminals for 48 hours before she was released. She says she was not charged with any offense. However, her release happened only after she was made to sign a gag order by the police and D’banj.  Seyitan further states that she filed a criminal complaint at the Gender Desk of Lagos Police Command in Ikeja on June 22.

Seyitan added that her decision to come out with her story was not for monetary purposes as all she wants from the singer is an apology for what he did to her.  The lady went on to add that she has now gotten the services of a law firm in Abuja to handle her case. She also thanked those who rallied around her to support her during the period.
