John Obi Mikel: Nigerian Football star reveals everyone should be treated equally

Nigerian football star John Obi Mikel was said to have been racially abused while in action for Trabzonspor in their 2-1 win over Fenerbahce last weekend.

The former Super Eagles captain played all 90 minutes for the Black Sea Storm in their Turkish Super Lig assignment. More threats and abuses were aimed at the midfielder and his family through their social media platforms after the game.

However, the Senol Gunes Stadium outfit has confirmed the development adding that they are already investigating the case.

They also revealed that they have laid official complaints to the authority as they hope to deal with the monster in the football industry.

Meanwhile, while reacting to the situation, Mikel Obi took to his Instagram page and wrote:

“We are all one and equal. It’s just a game at the end of the day.”

The former Chelsea star joined Trabzonspor after helping the Super Eagles win a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Champions in Egypt.

After joining the Turkish club last year, he has made 22 appearances across competitions but no goal has been registered under his name.

Mikel also spent a little over ten years at the Stamford Bridge winning every available title in England.

He was part of the golden generation Blues team that won the Champions League in 2012 but failed to win the FIFA Club World Cup.

Report has it that Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have confirmed that former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel suffered racial abuse after their clash against Fenerbahce over the weekend.

The 32-year-old midfielder was said to have been targeted by come of the visitors’supporters during the game.

Mikel was subjected to several threats and all other sorts of humiliating messages on his social media space after the game.

However, after thorough investigations by the club, the allegations were found to be true and the club has tendered their complaints to the local authority.
