Kunle Afolayan expresses pride in daughter's achievements

The incident involving Kunle Afolayan and his daughter Eyiyemi at the premiere of his series “Anikulapo; The Rise of the Spectre” caused a stir on the internet last month. Videos surfaced from the after party showing Kunle dancing with his daughter in what some considered to be an inappropriate manner for a father and daughter.

The dance moves, reminiscent of those shared by lovers, drew criticism from netizens who found it concerning that Kunle would engage in such behavior with his own child. Despite the backlash, Kunle responded by sharing a video of himself listening to Phyno’s song “Do I,” seemingly indicating that he was unfazed by the criticism.

In his response, Kunle asserted his identity as a king and the child of the Most High, suggesting that he was not bothered by the opinions of his critics. He emphasized that love transcends all boundaries.

Eyiyemi, for her part, echoed her father’s sentiments, showing that she was also unaffected by the backlash.

It’s worth noting that Kunle had previously explained his decision to cast Eyiyemi in the role of Princess Omowunmi in “Anikulapo.” He cited her beauty, singing talent, and natural acting abilities as reasons for selecting her for the role. Eyiyemi’s debut performance in the series marked her entry into the world of acting under her father’s direction.
