Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signs for Arsenal in £56m transfer from Dortmund

Arsenal have completed their club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on transfer deadline day after getting the green light from Borussia Dortmund to announce the deal, with the striker joining for £56m, and have followed it up by agreeing a new three-and-a-half year contract extension for Mesut Özil that will see him paid £350,000-a-week.

This development is likely to pave way for Olivier Giroud to join rivals Chelsea.

Aubameyang, 28, was spotted arriving at Arsenal’s training ground on Tuesday after getting a private jet to Luton Airport earlier in the day.

He completed a medical this morning and agreed personal terms with the club, with his wages set to be worth £180,000-a-week.

And it will mean Aubameyang will link up with former Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined from Manchester United earlier in the month.
