White Money Feels Misunderstood Says “Music’s a Hit Abroad, but Not at Home”

Hazel Onou, also known as White Money, gained fame as a reality TV star and singer after winning the 6th season of Big Brother Naija on October 3, 2021.
He believes his music is more popular in other countries because Nigerians don’t fully grasp his style.
White Money insists that his singing talent is natural and inspired by the Holy Spirit. While he was known for cooking during his time on BBNaija, he sees music as his true calling, which he has been passionate about for a long time.
He explains, “Music has always been a part of me. I sing with passion, drawing inspiration from the Holy Spirit and my surroundings.
My songs tell stories of my experiences and what I observe. I create ‘conscious’ music that doesn’t use offensive or hurtful words. My lyrics are clear and catchy. When I listen to my songs and feel I’m on the right path, it encourages me to continue.”
White Money feels some Nigerians stereotype him based on his BBNaija image, preferring him to stick to cooking. However, he believes his musical talent is undeniable and wants to go international with his brand, including both his cooking and music endeavours.
He sees more potential for his brand outside Nigeria because he thinks Nigerians don’t fully understand him or his goals.
