Top Google Searches in Nigeria 2017 Released (FULL LIST)

Seach engine giant Google on Wednesday announced the results of the most searched terms in 2017. The results focused on the year’s major moments and top trends based on the searches made in Nigeria.

Beyond showcasing what people, places, and things trended around the globe this year, the 2017 year in search list also gives an insight into what the top trending news moments in Nigeria were in the last 12 months, as well as music and movies that got the internet agog in the year.

In the year, the most searched person on Google’s search list was Moji Olaiya. The unfortunate sad circumstance of her death two months after delivery shook the Nigerian movie industry.

In second place was the notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans. While Adesua Etomi was closely followed in the third spot.

The top search engine revealed that people turn to Google for answers to questions they are embarrassed to ask their friends.
This year’s top “What is…” queries included President Buhari’s state of health, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and results of the West African Examinations Council, what a female Hyena is called, what Monkeypox is and Bitcoin.
This year’s most searched events and stories of interest by Nigerians include symptoms of Monkeypox, political news in other African countries, the iPhone 8 release and celebrity weddings.
