The US top model, Naomi Campbell is calling the Recording Academy out for not recognizing the Afro Beat Genre as a separate genre during the just concluded Grammy Awards. While congratulating the winner of the ‘World music’ award in the person of Angelique Kidjo, Naomi Campbell stated that is was only due to lack of education that Burna Boy has not been awarded the accolade that he truly deserves.
Naomi, also stated that it was due to misrepresentation that Afro Beat genre was included in the world music category of the 2020 Grammy award, revealing that the genre deserves its own category and sub-category at the Grammy awards because it has become a vehicle for artistry of the entire continent of Africa.
