W4 Breaks Free: Inside the Shocking Career Setback Story That Silenced Him for Six Years

The singer finally opens up about the contract clash, emotional toll, and the long road back to music.

Afrobeats singer W4 has finally explained why his music career went quiet for so long, and the story surprised many listeners. During an interview with Emmcee RNB on the Cruise Express show on Yanga FM, he revealed that a complicated contract under Crystal Posh Entertainment slowed him down for six years.

W4 Nigerian singer returns after six-year music break as he reveals contract dispute and debt issues.

W4 Opens Up About Six-Year Career Setback

The whole situation began shortly after he released “Control” in 2014. At the time, W4 connected with two young independent partners who shifted from friendly collaborators into full business partners. They even worked with ace director Clarence Peters to shoot a music video that never reached the public.

Things changed when the two partners claimed they needed to travel to Canada for a family event. While waiting for updates, W4 suddenly started receiving emails from a lawyer about a debt he had never heard of. Feeling confused, he contacted 2Baba’s lawyer for guidance because 2Baba and the late Sound Sultan had always supported him.

During the meeting, he learned the real issue. The label had taken a ₦50 million loan from an investment bank, even though they previously told him it was ₦30 million. He also discovered that releasing any music under his own name would attract a ₦120 million fine per song. With that information, he chose to stay silent until the contract expired.

Now that the agreement has finally ended, W4 is preparing new music and gearing up to reconnect with fans. His comeback season looks promising, and many listeners are excited to hear what he has been working on.
