“We Tried, But It’s Not Working” — Mr P Opens Up About P-Square Split

Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, aka Mr. P, has finally opened up about why P-Square, the iconic music duo he shares with his twin brother Paul (Rudeboy), split—again.

“There’s a joy that comes with going solo,” he shared. “Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working.”

“There’s a joy that comes with going solo,” Peter said in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos. “Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it; it’s not working.”

Peter got real about choosing the solo route, stressing that both he and Paul gave their reunion a genuine effort. But despite fans’ hopes, things just didn’t click like before.

Paul Okoye previously confirmed in August 2024 that the duo had gone their separate ways again. This came after their 2021 reunion, which followed their initial split in 2016.

Peter highlighted personal growth and happiness as key reasons for the final split. “We both tried,” he said, “but sometimes, you have to choose peace over pressure.”

The breakup of P-Square, one of Africa’s biggest music exports, has sparked fresh reactions on social media. While some fans expressed disappointment, others applauded both brothers for prioritizing their peace and creative freedom.

Now, both Mr. P and Rudeboy are fully focused on their solo music careers. Fans can look forward to new hits, unique vibes, and maybe—just maybe—a drama-free journey ahead.
