The acclaimed singer, Wizkid, responded to the concerns raised by his fans and admirers after his attendance at an event.

During the UK premiere of “Bob Marley: One Love” in London, Wizkid appeared solemn, as witnessed in videos circulating online. Fans voiced worries, noting his seemingly dry, aged, and soulless appearance. Some speculated that the singer was still grappling with the loss of his dear mother.

In response, Wizkid disclosed that he felt a profound sense of loss and disconnection since his mother’s passing. Despite this, he expressed optimism about rediscovering himself in the future. Drawing an analogy to the life of a soldier, he emphasized that until that moment arrives, he won’t tolerate anyone invading his personal space.

Addressing his fans directly, he urged them not to be disheartened when they witness his eventual return to form. The singer conveyed a message of resilience and hinted at a journey toward healing and self-discovery.

“Look in the mirror don’t feel myself. Mama left me and I lost myself.
Can’t wait to feel myself again! Life of a soldier! Military with it!

Until then I dey slap away for free so leave me

And I’m thankful y’all going through this phase with me. U seen me at my lowest now. When u see me back on my high no complain.

Expensive”.

Wizkid says he lost himself

Last month, Wizkid expressed heartbreak over the death of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, on Friday, August 18th. Since her passing, life felt meaningless to him.

In a poignant video that circulated online, Wizkid appeared downcast during his mother’s candlelight procession. At her night of tribute, he emotionally broke down while giving a speech at her funeral.

He acknowledged the profound pain, describing it as the deepest he had ever felt. Despite this immense sorrow, he channeled his emotions into creating “IDK,” one of his recent songs, emphasizing the ongoing struggle to find meaning in life despite being a father of four.

Reflecting on the loss, Wizkid shared the sentiment that sometimes one must release everything and surrender to a higher power. This introspective perspective underscores the artist’s journey through grief and the quest for spiritual solace.

The funeral ceremony drew notable figures like Oba Elegushi, billionaire Tony Elumelu, Eniola Badmus, Osas Ighodaro, Kwam1, Wande Coal, Paul Okoye, Banky W, Pretty Mike, Mercy Eke, Kim Oprah, Layole Oyatagun, Morey Faith, Frank Edoho, and others.

Last month, facing immense pressure from his millions of fans to produce new music, Wizkid, in a series of Instagram story posts, announced a temporary hiatus. He declared his intention to enjoy the fruits of his labor before resuming his musical journey, possibly taking a break for four or even five years. He even contemplated exploring new careers like sports—whether playing ball, golf, or even wrestling. This marked a moment of introspection and self-care for the Grammy-winning artist, prioritizing personal well-being over the demands of his musical career.
