Canadian rapper, Drake, has broken his silence on the tragic events of the Astroworld Music Festival which happened last Friday. The concert, which was held in Houston, Texas, led to the death of eight persons and about 300 others injured due to the crowd surge that occurred during the event.

Drake and Travis Scott were sued with multiple lawsuits after at least eight people were killed and hundreds injured in a crush at his festival Astroworld.

The lawsuits include allegations that Scott and Drake incited the crowd, and that the concert producer failed to provide adequate safety measures.

However, Drake who performed alongside his colleague, Travis Scott, who doubles as the organizer of the Festival, has released a statement via his Instagram page on Tuesday.

Authorities are in the midst of investigating the events that led to the eight deaths and ‘scores’ of injuries. On Monday, November 8, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner revealed he met with Scott and his head of security prior to the concert and ‘expressed [his] concerns regarding public safety.’

He explained: ‘I asked Travis Scott and his team to work with [Houston Police Department] for all events over the weekend and to be mindful of his team’s social media messaging on any unscheduled events.’

Following the incident, Scott assured the department had his ‘total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.’
