Nigerian Afrobeat star Seun Kuti had a terrifying experience in the U.S. when a stray bullet smashed through the window of his hotel room.
Seun Kuti Escapes Stray Bullet in U.S. Hotel Room
Kuti shared a video of the incident on Instagram on Sunday evening. In the clip, he showed the shattered glass and described how the bullet suddenly flew into his room.
“I read somewhere that these are the civilized people,” he said.
“Tell me you are in America without telling me you are in America. I was in my hotel room just chilling and boom — this happened.”
He expressed shock and disbelief. The musician said he was thankful he wasn’t standing near the window when the bullet came in.
Kuti is in the United States for a series of events and performances. After the post went live, fans and fellow artists flooded his comments with relief and support.
As of now, local police haven’t released a statement. It’s unclear where the bullet came from or if any investigation is ongoing.
