Afrobeats megastar Davido has opened up about what makes a music collaboration truly work — and it’s not just about the numbers.
Davido also dropped major updates on his upcoming ‘5ive Alive Tour,’ which kicks off soon with 13 dates across the UK, US, and Canada.
In a recent interview with 96.1 The Beat ATL, Davido revealed that real connections, not label arrangements, drive his best collabs. He explained how most features on his new ‘5ive’ album came from genuine friendships, including his standout track with American R&B star Victoria Monét.
“I don’t like working with artists just because our labels think we’ll make a hit,” Davido said. “I prefer to work with people who also want to work with me. That’s what makes the music real.”
On his ‘5ive’ album, Davido teams up with stars from around the world, including Jamaican dancehall stars Shenseea and 450, French hitmakers Dadju and TayC, Afrobeats favorite Omah Lay, and his longtime collaborator Chris Brown.
Davido also dropped major updates on his upcoming ‘5ive Alive Tour,’ which kicks off soon with 13 dates across the UK, US, and Canada.
He’ll headline Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the UK alongside legends like 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige, then hit major arenas like Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and Place Bell in Montreal. He’ll wrap things up at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, a city he calls home.
With ‘5ive’ heating up and the ‘5ive Alive’ tour on the way, Davido continues to lead the Afrobeats global takeover — proving it’s not just about hits, but heart.
