In a recent Instagram post, the 73-year-old cultural icon shared a video of himself at a spa. He was undergoing microblading and grey hair removal while emphasizing the importance of caring for one’s appearance at any age.

“Self-care no be for only small pikin. Na for anybody wey get sense and value demself,” he wrote. The message, delivered in his signature Pidgin, underlined the link between self-respect and grooming.

Charly Boy, often called The Area Fada, explained that his decision to “fine small” wasn’t driven by vanity. Instead, he saw it as a form of personal investment. Just as people service their cars and clean their homes, he believes the body deserves the same kind of maintenance.

“You dey take care of your car, your house, your chick – why you no go take care of your face? Na him people go first see,” he said.

He stressed that self-care isn’t just for Gen Z or younger people. Men especially older ones should stop viewing grooming as something tied to ego or femininity.

“As we dey age, na so we suppose dey package ourselves. No be vanity, na self-respect,” he added.

Charly Boy’s candid post quickly went viral. Fans praised his honesty and confidence, with many agreeing that true happiness starts with feeling good about oneself.

He ended with a bold reminder:

“If you see say my teeth white and my face dey shine, no talk say na filter. Na maintenance. Self-care no get age limit.”
