Grammy-winning South African pop star Tyla has revealed that she recorded a song with Nigerian Afrobeats icon Wizkid.
Tyla Reveals Upcoming Collaboration with Wizkid
She shared the news during a recent exchange on X (formerly Twitter). According to Tyla, they created the song in 2022 after Wizkid freestyled a melody in his hotel room.
This is the first collaboration between the two Grammy winners. Both artists have played major roles in taking African music to global audiences. Tyla recorded the track before releasing her breakout hit “Water” in July 2023.
She already has a strong track record with Nigerian artists. In 2023, she worked with Ayra Starr on “Girl Next Door”. She also featured Tems on “No. 1” from her self-titled debut album. In another joint project, she appeared on DJ Spinall’s “One Call” alongside Omah Lay.
Tyla Reveals Upcoming Collaboration with Wizkid
Tyla has openly admired Wizkid, calling this new song a major career moment. Though the release date remains unknown, it’s expected to be her second single of 2025, following “Bliss”, which dropped in May.
This year has been a standout for Tyla. She won the AMA for Best Afrobeats Artist, adding to her growing list of international honors. Fans are now eagerly waiting for her next release—one that could become one of the biggest songs in African music this year.
