Award-winning Nigerian Singer, Tiwa Savage cancels London Concert over sickness
Nigeria’s Afro queen, Tiwa Savage, recently delivered a poignant message to her fans and followers while contending with a vocal infection. In a Tuesday, October 18, 2023, Instagram post, the singer formally declared the delay of her highly anticipated Wembley Arena concert.
Tiwa Savage explained that her doctors have strongly advised her to take a break from singing due to her ongoing battle with a vocal ailment.
In her statement, the songwriter disclosed that she’s been grappling with a “virus” and that she’ll be undergoing “vocal rest” for the upcoming months.
Her Note:
“To my dear Savage Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months.
I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances including my first ever headline arena show in London.
I’m heartbroken and devastated but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice.
I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once
I’m fully healed.”
The exceptionally talented singer, initially scheduled for a London performance on November 26th, now must reschedule her concert due to illness.
Furthermore, this much-anticipated event at Wembley Arena aimed to solidify Tiwa Savage’s status as the first female Afrobeats artist headlining a 13,000-capacity venue.
The “Tiwa Savage and Friends” gig, where the singer was set to dazzle audiences, will be postponed as well.
In another significant highlight for Tiwa Savage in 2023, she had the opportunity to perform at the British King Charles III’s coronation concert in May. This event marked her as the first and only Nigerian to perform at a foreign royal coronation or event.
