Diego Costa Scores as Atletico Madrid Thrash Lleida Esportiu 4-0

Diego Costa came off the bench in the second half to net the third goal as Atletico put four past Lieida Esportiu at the Camp d’Esports.

It was by no means a vintage Atletico display for much of the first half, as they afforded their modest opposition several chances and looked flat goin forward.

Diego Godin opened the scoring with a fine header from Carrasco’s free kick and Fernando Torrres was also on target four minutes later with a good finish at the end of a fine pass from Kevin Gamiero.

With Atletico’s intensity dropping after the break, Simeone brought on Costa and Vitola fir their first appearances since their moves from Chelsea and Sevilla respectively.

Costa made an almost instant impact, prodicing a smart finish – and taking a knock in the process – from close range five minutes later.

A deflected Antonie Griezmann free-kick in stoppage time added further gloss to the scoreline. Marc Trilles got sent off for a second yellow card for conceding the set-piece
