Family releases funeral arrangements for Wizkid’s late mother

The family of the renowned singer, Ayodeji Balogun, widely recognized as Wizkid, has disclosed the funeral arrangements for his late mother.

Wizkid faced the tragic loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away around 1.30 a.m. on Friday, August 18th. The sad news was confirmed by Sunday Aare, Wizkid’s longtime manager, to The Punch.

Just two months following her passing, preparations for her burial are already well underway, promising a dignified and grand ceremony.

An online flyer has been circulating, detailing the funeral arrangements for the departed. A wake-keeping and tribute night are scheduled for Thursday, October 12th, 2023, followed by a funeral service on Friday, October 13th, to be held at RCCG City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos.

When news of her passing circulated, Burna Boy and Davido both paid tribute to her.

During his concert in Detroit, Burna Boy paused to show his respect for the departed.

He referred to Wizkid as his brother, empathizing with the pain Wizkid must be going through, as he couldn’t fathom losing his own mother.

Davido, on the other hand, conveyed his condolences through his Instagram story.

In his message of consolation, Davido assured Wizkid that time would eventually ease the sorrow, promising to keep him in his prayers.

In the previous year, Davido had showered praise upon Wizkid’s mother, lauding her as an extraordinary woman after their chance encounter at the airport.

The then father of four couldn’t contain his excitement and even offered to assist her with her luggage.

He mentioned that he helped her with her bags at the airport due to her status as a first-class citizen.

A year ago, Wizkid’s manager, Sunday Are, had extolled the virtues of Wizkid’s mother, recounting her unwavering support for him.
