Isreal DMW demands proper return of bride price from estranged wife

Isreal emphasized that their marriage was conducted under customary acts, and only the Federal High Court holds the statutory power to dissolve it, which can only occur after two years.

“Kindly return my bride price in a proper way. You can’t transfer it directly to me through an alert. I was never the one who paid it directly. My family did, and it was directly by hand. We married under the acts, and it only a Federal High Court, who has the statutory powers to get it dissolved after 2 years”.

On Tuesday, Israel vented his frustrations on social media, warning any man who dared approach his ex-wife. He also blamed his marital issues on Sheila’s parents, particularly her mother.

In response, Sheila Courage publicly declared that she had returned the bride price. She shared a heartwarming video with her close friend, Ginika.

However, Israel refuted her claim, clarifying on his Instagram story that the bride price hadn’t been refunded yet.

Later that night, he went live on Instagram with Daddy Freeze, elaborating on his marriage breakdown. He disclosed that Sheila had only returned 1,000 Naira of the over 2 million Naira bride price he paid.

He also mentioned how depressed he became post-divorce and appreciated the support from Davido, Zlatan, and Cubana Chief Priest.

Despite their efforts to reconcile, Sheila refused to return to him.

Israel and Sheila got married traditionally on October 20, 2022, in Benin City, with a star-studded white wedding two days later.

Their separation came just months after their lavish wedding, with rumors of domestic violence circulating. However, Israel denied the allegations, attributing the split to Sheila’s desire to change him.

Following their split, Israel cautioned men to steer clear of Sheila and legally married women.
